Powers; Four of the fingers on Vanko's right hand have been replaced by sophisticated metal prosthetics of his own design. As Whiplash, Vanko wears polymorphic infrared contact lenses of his own design which grant him night vision and the ability to perceive thermographic images through solid, opaque structures. Vanko's Whiplash body armor was created from the remnants of the Iron Man Mark 16 body armor used to attack Volstok, Russia. The primary layer is composed of molecularly-aligned crystallized iron over a base of titanium nitride. The armor is powered by high-density storage battery AC/DC electricity.
Abilities; Vanko is a gifted electrical engineer and inventor, and a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, having extensively trained himself in a fighting style which takes advantage of his body armor's specialized capabilities.
Weapons; The armor's main weaponry are two "whips" constructed from the copper wire component of the electromagnet that powered the Mark 16 body armor's armature electric motors. Two forearm gauntlets contain spring-loaded whips that can extend to a maximum length of approximately 25 feet. The whips extend from and retract into points on the gauntlets beneath Whiplash's wrists. The whips can be used for a variety of offensive and defensive maneuvers. Whiplash primarily uses the energy charged whips as offensive weapons that can burn through steel. However, when the whips' polarities are reversed, they can be utilized as grappling devices. They can be spun defensively at speeds of up to 12,000 revolutions per minute, effectively forming protective shields capable of deflecting bullets. They can also be used as propellers which grant Whiplash limited flight capability.
