They have a natural ability to change their shapes to take on the appearance of some one on the planet. They have used this method to invade many planets, making themselve one of the three main alien empires in the Marvel Universe.

They believe that if they conquer this planet they can gain an upper hand against thier enemies the Kree. they have recently made their move by replacing many heroes with Skrull spy, particularly Black Bolt and Elektra.
