She gained sentinence when they up graded her with Shi'ar tech but Professor Xavier thought that she would be a danger to his students so he "locked" her in the hardrive. After the Astonishing X-men defeated Ord, she started to become more free and when Colossus destroyed her cyber brain she formed this body.
